December 31, 2010
These are the albums I listened to the most and were released in 2010.  Apparently, I’m supposed to pick Kanye’s new album as album of the year.
Titus Andronicus - The Monitor
Superchunk - Majesty Shredding
The National - High Violet
Sleigh Bells - Treats
Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More
Surfer Blood - Astro Coast
Jonsi - Go
Stars - The Five Ghosts
The Black Keys - Brothers
Matthew Dear - Black City
Les Savy Fav - Root for Ruin
LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening
Kings of Leon - Come Around Sundown
Frightened Rabbit - The Winter of Mixed Drinks
My album of the year goes to the Titus.  Really any of the first six albums listed could have been my AOY, especially Sleigh Bells, Noel ;).  Those six albums were in constant rotation all year. Frightened Rabbit, I listened to a lot because of how much I liked their last album.  But it grew to annoy me with its overly polished sheen.  And my anti-album of the year goes to Vampire Weekend - Contra.  Their music is perfectly encompassed by the people in the Tommy Hilfiger ad their music was used in.  Take off your scarves and pea coats and stop writing your precious twee lyrics you wankers!
